Animas Brewing Company is one of our favourite spots for a relaxed family meal in Durango. It sits in a rustic, cabin-style building on E 2nd Avenue, right beside the Animas River Trail, so it’s easy to wander over on foot or by bike after a morning by the river.

The brewpub proudly calls itself family-friendly, and the kids’ menu backs that up, with a mini Colorado burger, grilled cheese, quesadillas, pita pizza and crispy chicken, each served with a drink and river chips or veggie sticks. Grown-ups can tuck into comfort food such as craft burgers and hearty pasties, with house-made drinks on the side.

On a sunny day, grab a table on the outdoor patio, where you can soak up the fresh mountain air while the little ones unwind after a busy day of exploring. It’s a laid-back, unfussy place where nobody minds a bit of family chatter.
