Cream Bean Berry is Durango’s home of handcrafted ice cream, and a scoop here is one of the simplest pleasures of a stroll downtown. You’ll find it at 1021 Main Avenue, in the heart of the historic district, where it has been welcoming ice cream lovers since 2015.
The story began in May 2013, when owner Katie Burford sold her first scoop from a bicycle cart on the Animas River Trail. Everything is still made in small batches on site, using fresh, local and organic ingredients wherever possible. Even the name tells you what matters: cream, beans (vanilla, coffee and cocoa) and berries.
Flavours rotate almost daily and follow the seasons, so there’s always something new to try. Look out for Colorado favourites such as Palisade peaches and Honeyville honey. There are dairy-free, vegan and gluten-free options too, and the shop takes a green approach, with plastic-free disposables.
Cream Bean Berry is usually open daily from midday into the evening, making it a perfect after-dinner treat. Check their Facebook or Instagram for the day’s flavours, then grab a cone and wander Main Avenue at your own pace.
