Dancing Willow Herbs is an independent, woman-owned herbal apothecary that has been part of downtown Durango since 1991. You’ll find it in the 1000 block of Main Avenue, a short stroll from the historic heart of town, and it’s a lovely, fragrant stop on a wander downtown.
Most of what’s on the shelves is handmade in the shop’s own lab at the back of the store. Look out for Dancing Willow’s herbal tea blends, infused honeys, tinctures, salves, cordials and elixirs, along with essential oils and bath and body products. The team focuses on organically grown and ethically wildcrafted herbs, including plants native to the Southwest.
The shop is owned by Elliott Brinkley, a clinical herbalist who first joined Dancing Willow in 2015, and it prides itself on genuine, friendly service. There’s a programme of classes and events too, so it’s worth checking the calendar if you’d like to learn more about plants while you’re in town.
Dancing Willow is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 6pm, and on Sunday from 11am to 5pm. Pick up a bag of loose tea to brew back at the house, then settle in and experience Durango your way.
