Durango Ghost Tour

For an evening with a difference, join Ghost Walk Durango, the town’s original ghost tour. This small, family-run local business has spent decades gathering stories and research, and each night it leads guests through 150 years of Durango’s darker, stranger history.

Your guide leads the way on foot through one of Durango’s historic Victorian neighbourhoods, stopping at haunted houses, old schools, hotels and fraternal lodges along the way. Expect a lively mix of real history, local legend and first-hand accounts, told with plenty of atmosphere as the light fades over town.

The walk is pitched as fun for everyone from little ones to grandparents, and children aged 10 and under go free, so it’s an easy family outing after dinner. Tours meet at the historic old Durango High School building on East 12th Street, a short stroll from Main Avenue. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a layer, as evenings cool down quickly at this altitude.

Tours usually run nightly at 7pm, and if the time you’d like isn’t showing online, give them a call, as they can often fit you in. Book ahead in summer and around Halloween, then head home, settle in and try not to jump at every creak.
